Noosa, Sunshine Coast
HIA Landscape Award Winner
Oasis Fusion: A Contemporary Landscape Inspired by Palm Springs & Mediterranean Elegance

In the heart of Noosa, this award-winning landscape redefines outdoor living, seamlessly blending Palm Springs chic with Mediterranean sophistication. Designed to reflect the client’s love for international aesthetics, this oasis balances luxury, sustainability, and natural beauty.

The Transformation

Originally constrained by an outdated kidney-shaped pool and aged timber decking, the site lacked cohesion with the home’s style and the client’s vision for effortless outdoor living. The new design introduced fluid transitions, open spaces, and refined architectural elements, creating a space that feels both expansive and inviting.

Design Highlights
  • Poolside Elegance: A striking mix of Beauford natural stone crazy paving and Palma Technifirma Italian porcelain brings textural contrast, seamlessly blending natural and manufactured materials.

  • Mediterranean Pavilion: Inspired by coastal retreats, the poolside pavilion is accessed through the pool itself, featuring a large arch, hardwood beams, and built-in masonry shelves—perfect for a candlelit evening in Noosa.

  • Palm Springs Entry: A reimagined front entryway includes stone-clad pillars, a sliding gate, and a Palm Springs-inspired door, integrating privacy with architectural flair.

  • Sustainable & Functional Design: Carefully selected plants, concealed drainage, and a blend of natural and contemporary materials ensure both longevity and environmental responsibility.

This garden is more than a retreat—it’s a celebration of family, entertaining, and timeless design, crafted to evolve with the owners and their cherished gatherings for years to come.

Peregian Beach, Sunshine Coast
2022 Landscape Queensland Award Winner – Residential Category

On a sloping site in Peregian Beach, this project was a transformative landscape design project that turned an underutilised front yard into a breathtaking outdoor sanctuary. Once a sparse, grass-covered slope, this space is now a seamless blend of functionality and natural beauty, tailored to the client’s deep-rooted love for entertaining.

With Japanese and Italian heritage influencing the design, the project prioritized gathering spaces, integrating a new pool with a water feature, a patio, and an entertaining area that maximised the land’s potential. Every element was thoughtfully curated to provide an inviting and serene environment for family and friends.

The result is a harmonious outdoor retreat—one that respects the landscape’s contours while embracing the client’s vision of connection, culture, and celebration.

Thank you and congratulations to Contemporary Landscaping Sunshine Coast for allowing us to be a part of this project.

Tewantin, Sunshine Coast Landscape Award Winner Residential Project
A Seamless Outdoor Transformation with a Personal Touch

For our Tewantin clients, moving from New South Wales to the Sunshine Coast was about embracing a new lifestyle—one centered around family, entertaining, and enjoying the outdoors when family and friends came to visit or stay. However, their backyard felt disconnected, underutilised, and lacked a dedicated dining or entertainment area.

After discussing their ongoing interior renovations, it became clear that a seamless indoor-outdoor connection was essential to maximise the space. Our design solution focused on reconfiguring their existing garage to become a large natural flow from indoors to out, rather than trying to cram a small patio into the remaining and limited space they had. By lifting the ceiling height to create a more expansive and inviting entertaining space, without sacrificing coverage or protection from the elements we were able to then have room for a bbq area , and a beautiful pool.

Key Features
  • Garage Transformation: Instead of an open-air space, we raised the ceiling, enhancing the sense of openness and connection to the outdoors while maintaining a covered, sheltered area for entertaining.

  • Pool Design with Glass Bricks: A striking new pool design incorporated glass bricks, which capture and refract natural sunlight by day and reflect the firepit’s glow by night, creating an ever-changing visual experience.

  • Seating & Firepit Area: A dedicated seating and firepit zone was designed for relaxing afternoons and intimate evenings, offering a cozy retreat for the owners and their beloved dog. The firepit’s light plays off the surrounding textures, adding warmth and depth to the space.

  • Personal Touch: A treasured heirloom planter vessel, passed down from one of the owner’s grandparents, was integrated into the design—ensuring the space carries sentimental value and a deep family connection.

The result is a thoughtfully designed retreat that enhances entertaining, relaxation, and connection to nature, seamlessly blending the client’s lifestyle with Queensland’s outdoor way of life.

Another collaborative project we are proud and grateful to work with Contemporary Landscaping Sunshine Coast on!

Kangaroo Point, Brisbane Balcony Makeover
Skyline Sanctuary: A Lush Apartment Garden Above Brisbane

Perched on the 6th floor of a Kangaroo Point apartment, this outdoor garden transformation proves that even high-rise living can embrace lush greenery. Our client, an avid plant enthusiast, had amassed an overwhelming collection of plants and pots—many unsuitable for the location and difficult to maintain. The challenge was clear: curate a refined, sustainable garden that enhanced the space without the burden of excess upkeep.

The Transformation

By carefully editing the plant selection, we introduced a ‘less is more’ philosophy, ensuring each element served a purpose. Statement olive trees in custom pots provided sculptural beauty, while a bespoke vertical garden revitalized a once-blank wall, bringing much-needed greenery, cooling, and color to the stark concrete setting. This addition not only softened the space but also countered the heat reflection from surrounding glass buildings, creating a more comfortable and inviting atmosphere.

Design Highlights
  • Curated Plant Selection: Large, low-maintenance plants that thrive in an exposed high-rise setting.

  • Custom Pots & Statement Trees: Elegant pots housing mature olive trees, adding structure and Mediterranean charm.

  • Vertical Garden Feature: A striking green wall introducing texture, cooling, and vibrancy to the space.

  • Automatic Watering System: Seamless irrigation to ensure effortless maintenance, solving a long-standing issue for the client.

Now, this sky-high retreat offers the perfect setting for entertaining, with panoramic views over Brisbane City and the river. A true example of how thoughtful design, sustainability, and smart plant selection can transform any space—no matter how elevated
